Dr Geoff Burns

Dr Geoff Burns is General Manager at Charles River Laboratories Edinburgh, a Contract Research Organization providing discovery, preclinical and clinical research services supporting the development of pharmaceuticals, veterinary medicines and agrochemicals. With over a thousand staff based in Tranent and Riccarton, the company works with a range of companies from across the globe encompassing everything from small startup companies through to large pharma. A biochemistry graduate from Sheffield University with a PhD in Neuropharmacology, Geoff spent several years in Germany working in the human diagnostic sector before relocating to Scotland where he has worked in the diagnostic sector as well as running the labs for the Scottish Environment Protection Agency. Geoff joined Charles River in 2004 where he oversaw the analytical labs before moving into the General Manager role in 2019. When not working Geoff is battling the Scottish weather on his road bike.
